Harbour Ridge: The Best Things in Life
Harbour Ridge: The Best Things in Life
By Bethany Tap
Named for the 1715 Treasure Fleet that was lost in a hurricane along its coast, Florida’s Treasure Coast stretches along three coastal Floridian counties and includes Palm City, Florida. There, you’ll find Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club, a private gated country club known for its spectacular yachting, golf, and tennis. The community derives its name from the natural bluffs, which create a harbor and ridge along the club’s River Ridge Golf Course.
Golf
Both the River Ridge and Golden Marsh golf courses are renowned within the Treasure Coast and beyond for their discerning design, created by Pete and P.B. Dye and Joe Lee. The artistry of the courses, situated among wetlands with panoramic water views and breathtaking views of natural Florida habitats, make these two courses perfect for experiencing the wonder of the game. The River Ridge was built by father and son, Pete and P.B. Dye, with the intention of being not only beautiful, but also perfect for playing 18-holes. Golden Marsh, inspired by Joe Lee, lies on 20-acres of nature preserve, surrounded by the gentle sounds and sights of nature.

Marina and Yacht Club
But, of course, even with all of these amenities, the community would not be what it is without it’s three marinas set along two miles of water and its premier yacht club. Members of the yacht club have fun on and off the water, whether it’s on a day or evening cruise, a formal “docktail” event, or at the annual fishing contest. Harbour Ridge is a proud member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs (FCYC), an organization made up of 37 yacht clubs throughout the state of Florida.
The three marinas also offer residents the opportunity to kayak or boat, as well as fish for snook, redfish, or trout. The staff at the marina is friendly and helpful, with the goal of both supporting and guiding residents on fishing and boating adventures.
The Community
As one of the first private waterfront golf communities in the state of Florida, Harbour Ridge has become a proud treasure of the Treasure Coast. 695 homes in 28 communities spread across 885 acres of wooded landscape along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. The community of Harbour Ridge is committed to nature conservation, landscaping with native trees and plants, as well as allowing unspoiled natural vegetation to thrive.
The Surrounding Area
Outside of Harbour Ridge, there is no greater amenity than nature. Martin County offers unique attractions, such as Florida’s oldest and only remaining life-saving station, Gilbert’s House of Refuge, which used to provide shelter and supplies for shipwrecked sailors. Also nearby to Harbour Ridge is a world-class oceanographic center, located on Hutchinson, Island. There, you’ll find nature trails, a 750,000-gallon Game Fish Lagoon, Sea Turtle Pavilion, and much more. There are also riverboat cruises along the St. Lucie and Indian Rivers, sandy beaches and riverside parks, wildlife tours and campgrounds, along with opportunities to kayak or boat up the rivers or Treasure Coast, hike through the woodlands to catch sight of a red-bellied woodpecker or yellow-crowned night heron, or dive at shipwreck sites or along natural reefs.
