Located within New Bern city limits, Carolina Colours is one of the top gated communities in North Carolina, placed within a natural setting that provides idyllic surroundings that are sure to make everyone feel right at home. While many residents at Carolina Colours are retirees, others are just beginning to raise a family, which creates a diverse and vibrant community within the gates, as well as outside of them.

One of the main reasons many decide to put down roots here is the town itself. Over 300 years old, New Bern, NC combines the best of many worlds. As the second oldest town in North Carolina, and the first state capital, the area is rich in history. A must see site is Tryon Palace, “where governors ruled, legislators debated, patriots gathered, and George Washington danced.” Although the original structure burnt down in 1798, the buildings were lovingly reconstructed and restored to their former glory in 1959. Today, costumed actors and actresses help history come alive within the grand gates. There truly is something for everyone here.

New Bern’s downtown is located right on the riverfront, where the Trent and Neuse Rivers converge, and the Atlantic coast is only a few minutes’ Town marina at Carolina Colours in New Bern, North Carolinadrive away. In the downtown area, you’ll find yourself surrounded by quaint cafes, boutique shops, and restaurants that beckon patrons in from the stone sidewalks. There are also plenty of things to do during the day. Many historic homes are located in the downtown area and tours are available by horse-drawn carriage. Of course, if you prefer to linger during your sightseeing, self-guided walking tours are available through Historic Heritage Walking Tours. And don’t forget the many outdoor activities the coastal location and the long, warm southern summers provide. Living in New Bern allows your days to be filled with boating and bike rides.

Of course, there’s plenty to keep you busy just within the gates of Carolina Colours. One of central coastal North Carolina’s premier golf courses, designed by Bill Love, is available to residents through a membership program. This innovative new program is perfect for those that love to golf frequently. But golf isn’t the only community activity. One of the first things you’ll notice about Carolina Colours and New Bern in general, is the beauty of the natural surroundings. Many residents take advantage of the fresh air with daily walks or bike rides. Additionally, the Pavilion is a common area where many meet for afternoon drinks and conversation, and for those hot summer days, a pool with both sunny and shaded areas is available. For anyone interested in living a relaxed coastal lifestyle with an upscale feel, Carolina Colours in New Bern, NC is an ideal place to build memories.
